Residents at Elizabeth Prout Gardens have lots of knitted teddy bears and puppies, some complete with their own outfits. The group has raised around £200, with donations already supporting several good causes, including Roses for Children, Russells Hall Children’s Ward and the Royal British Legion.
The fundraising project has brought residents together and created a real sense of pride amongst the group. It has also given them a chance to share skills, spend time together and give back to the wider community.
“We did the knitting in the lead up to Easter to raise funds for important and local charities. Our aim was to do something meaningful for the next generation while strengthening our sense of community by coming together as one.”
The initiative highlights the strong community spirit at Elizabeth Prout Gardens and showcases the commitment, creativity and kindness of the residents, who are making a difference through their shared passion for giving back.
“This project is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when residents come together. The creativity, generosity and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved is inspiring. It’s been fantastic to see the positive impact this has had and I’m very proud of them all.”
Southern Housing has 1300 homes in Birmingham and, this year, is celebrating 125 years of providing homes for people in housing need.
