Timeline
- Pre-20th century
The wider Hollington area was largely rural, with fields, farms and woodland. - 19th century to mid-20th century
Historic maps show buildings near Hollington Stream and allotment gardens across much of the site. - 1950s
Plans for new homes in the area begin to take shape. - 1964
Construction of the Four Courts begins. - 1965
Churchill Court officially opens. - 1967
Building works across the Four Courts are completed. -
Mid-1970s
The Rising Times community newspaper launches from Bevin Court. - 1990s
Residents vote for the estate to be managed by a housing association. - 2010s
The towers are refurbished with the colourful cladding seen today.
Today, the Four Courts remains an important part of the local area, with a strong sense of community built up over many years. While its history is something to celebrate, the buildings themselves no longer meet modern standards for design and accessibility.
