John and Zandra remember visiting while The Orangery was still being built, getting an early look at what would become their home. Ten years on, it’s a place they know well, with familiar neighbours and shared spaces they use every day.
Moving from a house to a flat was a big change at the time, but it didn’t take long for it to feel right. The space works well for them, and being close to shops and having facilities on site has made day-to-day life easier. They make regular use of what’s on offer, including the on-site hairdresser and meals available throughout the week.
Gardening has always been a big part of their lives. Before moving, they spent 15 years in their previous home, where their garden won Rother Homes’ Best Garden of the Year in 2006.
At The Orangery, they’ve continued that interest, helping to plant sweet peas and look after the raised beds. They still spend time out in the gardens, keeping them looking their best and chatting with neighbours.
