Our Fresh Visions charity runs Motivate Sussex, offering three lively youth clubs for young people aged 10 to 18 across Hastings and St Leonards. The clubs run all year round, with extra activities during the school holidays, giving young people a safe and friendly place to spend time, be creative and have fun.
Each session offers something different. Young people can play games, try new sports, cook healthy meals together or get creative with arts and crafts. The clubs are relaxed, welcoming spaces where they can unwind, talk about anything on their mind and get support when they need it. There are also trips and special activities throughout the year, opening up new experiences that some young people may not otherwise get. And everything is completely free.
The young people who attend say the clubs make a real difference in their lives. Here’s what they told us:
“I know I can come here and be safe to speak about whatever I want.”
“I’ve made friends here and now enjoy going on the trips because I feel comfortable with people.”
“I can be myself and know I won’t be judged.”
“The club is a social safe space where you can let your imagination flow and be creative.”
“I can talk about things I can’t easily talk about at home.”
“The club is a place where I can be who I am without anyone bullying me. It gives me a sense of belonging.”
“The club is where I meet friends I don’t see in school. I get support here… and the food!”
