Residents at George Simmons House have come together to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, raising an impressive £1,300 through a series of creative fundraising activities.
It all began with resident Ian Hunter, who started collecting loose change from friends and neighbours over ten years ago. Ian was inspired to give back after his grandson was born with a birth defect and received care at the hospital.
Since then, the fundraising has grown, with residents donating items for tabletop sales and joining in with other fun ways to raise money, including:
- Scratch card raffles
- Cake-making days
- Dry November challenges
- A Christmas toy auction.
The team’s efforts were recently recognised with a certificate from Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, celebrating their continued support.
Ian said he’s always thinking of new ways to raise money and is grateful for the support of everyone at George Simmons House.
A huge well done to Ian and all the residents involved – your kindness is making a real difference.
