Our resident Scrutiny Panel continues to do brilliant work, taking an in-depth look at specific service areas and making recommendations to help us improve. Five new residents recently joined the Panel and are already getting stuck into their scrutiny work! They come from a variety of locations and backgrounds and bring wide experience to the Panel.

Safeguarding scrutiny

The panel is currently carrying out an in-depth scrutiny of how we deal with safeguarding.

Safeguarding is the process designed to protect the health, well-being and human rights of all individuals. It helps everyone, including children, young people and vulnerable adults, to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

The Panel have already looked at all our written policies, reports and action plans involved in safeguarding.

In the next stage of the project the Panel will investigate how informed residents and staff are about what to do if they identify someone at risk.  They’ll look at a sample of safeguarding incidents.

The Panel is working with the Safeguarding team as well as talking to external people, particularly from Local Authorities, who get involved in the process.

We expect to complete this Scrutiny Project by the end of 2025.

Future scrutiny projects

The Panel has considered a number of options for future projects:

  • Communications about service charges and the process for dealing with service charge queries
  • The way in which external managing agents (EMAs) are managed
  • Repairs.
